Disk Streaming & ROM Sampler!
The builtin sampler satisfies the need especially for naturally sounding instruments like pianos or orchestras. The user can easily copy his own sounds in Gigasampler, Gigastudio or SFZ format onto the instrument and load his sounds into the sampler.
New sounds loaded by the user will be assigned to the patch selector pads, to allow convenient switching of personal sounds. No need for browsing the file system during live performance. You can issue MIDI program changes in the middle of a song, and the appropriate samples will be dynamically loaded in just a few milliseconds. Or if you are using a MIDI sequence that can't wait that long between notes, you can preload a set of sounds to make them PERSISTENT ( same as ROM system) before playing the MIDI sequence.
Due to the direct from disk streaming technology, a big collection of huge sounds can be played simultaniously, creating a sound realism not reached by any other live instrument.

Additive & Subtractive Synthesizer
The builtin synthesizer will invite you to a storm of creativity. Punchy bass lines, agressive filters and warm effects are just a snippet of what this synthesizer can deliver to the outputs. Besides the very popular subtractive synthesis model, this synthesizer creates stunningly bright and pleasant strings and pad sounds, thanks to the additional additive synthesis model.
Your instrument already comes with a well selected collection of synthesizer preset sounds, so you can immediately concentrate on what you really want to do - making music.

Beyond Standards
Virtual instruments and effects that you are used to from the studio, should not be missing on the road. Copy your VST plugins from MS Windows onto your instrument and load them with the dedicated VST control interface, directly from the touchscreen.
Analogue to any other sound engine in your instrument, your VSTi plugins are assigned to the instrument's patch selector pads, allowing to switch among your VST instruments quckly during your live performance.
Besides the virtual instruments, you can assign a chain of VST effect plugins to each instrument. When switching among your VST instruments, the respective chains of VST effects are automatically restored along to the virtual instrument.

Windows ASIO applications
Even though the Lionstracs instruments are not MS Windows computers, they can host all your Windows audio applications for you. This is especially handy for virtual studio tools that are not available as VST plugins. Thanks to an efficient implementation of the ASIO audio interface standard, your ASIO applications can even reach lower latencies on the Groove OS than under MS Windows.
Each Lionstracs instrument provides 10 ASIO app hosts, that is you can run up to ten Windows ASIO apps simultaniously and immediately switch among them during live performance with the instrument selector pads on the touch screen and by the sound selector buttons on the chassis. All MIDI and audio connections to your ASIO application are automatically established by the Groove OS for you, so your favourite Windows audio applications are automaticallly, seamlessly integrated into the overall system of your Lionstracs instrument, allowing them to utilize all features of your Lionstracs instrument, e.g. applying the builtin audio effects.
Integrating another Windows ASIO application in your instrument, doesn't need more than copying the software onto your instrument and selecting the executable (.exe) file from the dedicated ASIO control interface, again directly by the integrated touchscreen.

Dual Multimedia Player
Two builtin multimedia players can assist you with a solid background for your performances.
No matter if audio, video or MIDI, all common formats like mp3, wav, avi, mpeg, mid
are supported. Crossfade between the two players, time stretch and pitch shift the material
in realtime or use the Karaoke features to let a singer or the whole audience accompany you.

Combination Sounds
You can turn your keyboard into a complete orchestra by using combination sounds. A combination sound consists of a set of layers. Each layer can be assigned an arbitrary sound of an arbitrary sound engine. A graphical editor allows you to assign the layers to zones of your keyboard.

Energy XT
Energy XT is a slot-based sequencing and recording system, the read-only version provided free and the editable version is available on a license basis issued by XT Software in Norway. MIDI notes and audio clips may be stored in tracks and slotted patterns within tracks. A slot is defined by a start and end bar number. You can have an unlimited number of slots and an unlimited number of tracks in each slot. Each slot can be looped and may be triggered by an external controller. You can put MIDI arpeggio patterns into a slot, or MIDI rhythm and bass sequences, or real time audio loops. |

Reaper 4 Linux Version
Is possible now to install optional the new Reaper 4.1, full native with Linux-wine version, with full midi routing on Jack Connection kit.
Reaper 4.1 is one of the top commercial DAW full compatible with the LIONSTRACS Groove OS. |

Jack Audio connection Kit
JACK audio connection manager is an audio patch bay of unlimited size. You can connect and chain one plug-in to another, so that a Synth plug-in output can be connected to the input of a guitar amp model or a plug-in effects unit. You can also connect the output from the Linux Sampler to the input of another plug-in, for example providing Leslie speaker emulation. So, if the standard facilities in the Groove X-R are not enough for you, then you can extend its capabilities by loading additional plug-in synthesizers and effects when you need them. Windows based plug-ins run on the Groove X-R using the WinE environment, and we provide a compatibility list of tested plugins to all users.
10 different cnvironments for configuring complex plug in routings
The Groove X-R runs ten VSTi and ASIO host engine canvasses simultaneously and in each host engine an (almost) unlimited number of plug-ins may be run. The Groove X-R is only limited by available RAM and CPU power.. Windows™-based plug-ins run on the Groove X-R using the WinE environment, and we provide a compatibility list of tested plug-ins on our web site. E.g. the Groove X-R is compatible with the Native Instruments™ product family. NOTE: Some plug-in manufacturers use USB security systems e.g. Pace/iLok™ and Steinberg/e-licenser™. The user must check with the plug-in manufacturer that there is full support provided by the plug-in manufacturer for Linux® systems. |
